At the Javierre Lab, we uphold a set of core values that guide our work and interactions:

1. Respect for Cultural, Religious, and Sexual Diversity

We honor and embrace the unique backgrounds and perspectives of all individuals, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. Importantly, we use mice and human samples (including fetal samples from abortions and adult tissues) only after ethical committee approval and following the 3Rs. While we prefer not to work with these, they are the only sources of specific cell types, so we must feel confident in our ethical practices. Take care with the experimental team since they are always looking for samples!

2. Collaboration

We believe in the power of teamwork and actively encourage collaboration across disciplines to achieve our shared goals. Our competitors are not within our group. Collaborations help improve CVs and accelerate research projects. In all projects, there is at least one computational and one experimental leader.

3. Trust and communication

Trust is the foundation of our relationships within the lab. We strive to maintain open and honest communication, ensuring reliability and integrity in all our endeavors. Failure is not trying; failing is normal, accept it. If there is any doubt of problem, we should talk about it since it is the best way to fix it.

Dedication and hard work are key to our success. We are committed to putting forth our best effort in every task, continually striving for excellence. Remember, individual performance affects the whole team.

5. Productivity

We aim to achieve high levels of productivity, ensuring that our research outputs are significant and impactful while maintaining a healthy life balance. We do not just occupy our seats; we organize our work to achieve the best production. Remember again, individual performance impacts the entire team. Responsible flexibility is one of the best features of science, but remember the adjective “responsible”, that is opposite of free.

6. Creativity

Innovation and creativity are at the heart of our research. We encourage thinking outside the box and exploring new ideas to push the boundaries of scientific knowledge. Multidisciplinary approaches + Reading scientific literature is just the beginning; we cannot reinvent the wheel but maybe we can add a couple wings, a horn and purpurin to create a new single cell mutiomics method. 7. Enthusiasm for Research

Our passion for discovery drives us. We are deeply committed to advancing science and making meaningful contributions to the field. Globally, science is fun, despite its ups and downs - much like life. We celebrate every success and support each other through failures. Personalized cups are the best trophies.

8. Pride and Responsibility

We take pride in being part of the Javierre Lab and feel a strong sense of responsibility to represent our lab and uphold the core values previously mentioned. We are responsible for promoting the Javierre Lab brand. Remember the theory of the six degrees of separation - any mistake can be hard to forget.

9. Food is always a good means to achieve something

We enjoy eating. If you are a good cook, you will have the team on your side. Chocolate is always the best option, remember. Sports also help to balance food excess, relax, and disconnect. Remember, the Gym and the Yum is Javierre Laboratory's interpretation of Yin and Yang.
