Lucía Álvarez

Postdoctoral Researcher

Lucía, born in 1995 in Bembibre (El Bierzo, León), studied Biotechnology at the University of Leon (2013-2017), where she developed a particular interest in genome evolution, genetics and bioinformatics. Building on this, she advanced her expertise by completing a Master Degree in Advanced Genetics at Autonomous University of Barcelona (2018). Then, Lucía started her PhD focused on the role of the 3D genome organization in shaping mammalian chromosome evolution under the supervision of Dr. Aurora Ruiz-Herrera at Autonomous University of Barcelona. She finished her PhD in 2024. Recently, Lucía has joined the Javierre Team to continue expanding her knowledge about the 3D structure of the genome.


Apart from science, Lucía loves cinema, nature and long walks.
